Sandra Cam, the former whistleblower visited Kerwin Espinosa last November 16 in Al Watba jail, where she saw him feeling emotional and in tears.
Espinosa, the son of slain Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport early Friday morning after hiding for months in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Espinosa promised to cooperate and tell everything that he knows about the illegal drug trade in exchange for his safety, Cam said.
He also pleaded for the security of his common-law wife and three kids, who are also in Abu Dhabi.
Cam said that she received word in October from Filipinos residing in Abu Dhabi that they spotted Espinosa, a fugitive who is considered most wanted in the Philippines, at a convenience store.
Cam owns a cleaning service and trading firm in Abu Dhabi and always go there.
Espinosa stayed in the same building as her staff’s.
Authorities were able to confirm Espinosa’s presence in Abu Dhabi through the visa he obtained.
Espinosa was recognized by most Filipinos residing in Abu Dhabi since he was flagged as a wanted fugitive in news reports in the Philippines.
He was also known to be friendly and generous, giving money to Filipinos he met there.
Espinosa resided in one of the flats in a building on Sheikh Khalifa Street in Abu Dhabi, where rent is considered exorbitant and expensive.
