Jodi Sta. Maria told ABS-CBN News that she has learned her lesson.
Many websites reported about her past ‘drug use’ because people were thinking she used shabu, cocaine, etc.
The truth was…she said that she turned to drugs but those were anti-anxiety drugs.
Early this month, Sta. Maria was quoted by the Cebu Daily News to have said that she ‘turned to drugs’ and alcohol after her separation from Pampi Lacson, whom she was formerly married to for five years.
She was quoted in saying at an event in Mandaue City: ‘Before she became a workaholic, she became an alcoholic.’
The actress drank day and night and even drank during taping.
She wanted to solve her feeling of pain and emptiness.
When alcohol was not enough, she turned to drugs and she felt empty and pretended to be okay when the truth was, she was not really okay at that time.
Despite the confusion, Sta. Maria hopes her journey to recovery would serve as an inspiration to those who are undergoing similar troubles.
She is now praying that the story brings strength and inspiration to people who experience the same situation.
And it’s really with God’s grace how she survives and where she is now, Sta. Maria added.
Sta. Maria is an International Emmy nominated Filipina actress.
She is one of the Philippine’s most talented actresses under ABS-CBN’s circle of homegrown talents and part of the Star Magic Batch 7 alumna.
She found immediate success as a teenager with the popular show ‘Tabing Ilog.’
She also topbilled ‘Be Careful With My Heart’ with Richard Yap.
It was one of the most successful TV series of ABS-CBN.
And due to its immense popularity and critical acclaim, albums, concerts, and worldwide tours were spawned.
The show has been aired in regions of Africa, around Asia, the Middle East, and South America.[2
