Sen. Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III Wants A Bill To Raise SSS Pension

Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III pushes a bill that could increase the SSS monthly pension.

Sotto insists that there is really an urgency to pass for the proposed measure because most of the minimum monthly pensioners are those who are already in their senior years. These people need more care and assistance, to sustain and survive on the remaining days of their life.

This is also to alleviate the burden of the pensioners to catch up with the increasing cost of living.

In the Senate Bill No. 1068, the minimum monthly pension shall be P2,000 from previous P1,200 for at least 10 credited years of service.

Maximum of P3,000 from the previous P2,400 will be accorded for those that has 20 credited years of service.

The immediate passage of the said bill is now being pushed by Senator Sotto.

Meanwhile, during one of Pres Duterte’s press conferences, he also said that president would grant the P2,000 increase in the pension of retired Social Security System members after Pres Aquino vetoed the bill that would have increased it.

According to Duterte, he does not need a congressional action to give the proposed P2,000 increase in the monthly pension of SSS retirees.

The retirees have worked hard for their monthly contributions and now that they are already old, they must also enjoy their pensions., he added.
